NOW IN NORTH LAKES
Former Moreton Bay Regional Council Coordinator Development Engineer, Marcus Olive, and his professional team, have extensive experience in the development industry and an intricate knowledge of Planning Schemes, Council’s Standards and Council’s Development Codes, which regulate development in South East Queensland.
The new North Lakes office services the Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Ipswich, and Logan regions.
If you are considering development opportunities south of the Sunshine Coast, consider Contour ‘North Lakes’ for your next project.
Land and wellsite rehabilitation has become a focus for the Contour team to complete its full suite of services. Already Contour has a keen focus on the environment and its sustainability through its understanding of the need to
protect and preserve, while at the same time delivering practical environmental solutions that are both compliant and able to be put into effect.
Our erosion and sediment control capability through innovative planning
already delivers quality solutions embraced by industry.
To complete the full cycle, Contour has developed a land rehabilitation capability. Feel free to call us to discuss this additional capability.
Director Chris Fulcher has been involved in land development for over 25 years. He has literally cut his teeth on the ability to pull together effective development overlays to optimize the development potential of a block of land.
In talking with Chris recently he was the first to admit that this had been a part of the business that had been a little quiet in recent times but added that given the level of enquiry he had received leading up to Christmas
and the enquiries he has had since, he expects it to be a busy 2014 in this area.
“We have taken a slightly different direction in recent times and given that the Coast has been quiet in terms of land development
that has been a good thing. However, if recent enquiries are a guide, I expect things to get moving in this area again”, Chris commented.
UNIQUE WORK - CHINA
Contour has always prided itself in that it is a diverse engineering company delivering its work in some unique places. China is the latest destination as we work closely with a local Sunshine Coast based company preparing detailed
designs for an aquaculture installation in mainland China. Richie McCulloch said of the project, “We have worked in this area before and it is great to have the opportunity to spread our wings even further off shore into China
with this design.”
The recent TSBE, “Invest Toowoomba” magazine covered several emerging industries one of which was shale gas.
What was particularly interesting about this article is that it highlighted that the federal agency, “Geoscience Australia”
has estimated that shale gas could double Australia’s natural gas reserves from 400 to 800 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas. Quite staggering as this has the potential to change the global energy market.
Gas has already made an impact in the USA positioning the energy sector in the States as a net exporter as opposed to an importer. Global interest has increased with shale gas reserves identified in Europe, Asia and Australia.
Estimates coming out of the United States suggest that Australia has 396 trillion cubic feet of shale gas. One trillion cubic feet is about what we use in Australia annually.
Other estimates suggest that Western
Australia alone holds the fifth largest reserves of shale gas in the world. In comparison to Coal Seam Gas (CSG) it is estimated that one shale gas well produces the equivalent to 30 – 50 CSG wells.
This all suggests there
will be interesting times ahead in the resource sector in Australia and globally.
Here at Contour we continue to strengthen our project management services. This division of the business has had a busy 2013 and we are soon to start two more projects with the Australian Office of War Graves. Contour values its
relationship with the Office of War Graves and we have previously been engaged on projects in Brisbane, Barinsdale and Sale.
One of our next two projects takes us into NSW, upgrading the water feature at the Rookwood
Cemetery, while the other keeps us local in Brisbane at Albany Creek.
EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
An important component of any construction works is managing your environmental requirements and specifically erosion and sediment control (ESC). Contour provides our clients with detailed erosion and sediment control management
plans ensuring your site is compliant with all relevant approvals, permits and regulations.
Having ESC Management Plans approved by a CPESC Engineer is a must these days. Contour has one of the few CPESC
Engineers within SE QLD and will soon have an additional 2 qualified CPESC Engineers to support the ever growing need for Certified ESC Management Plans.
